Tree of Tule I

Tree of Tule in the state of Oaxaca (Mexico) is said to be at least 1400 years old and local Zapotec legend holds that it was planted by a priest of the Aztec wind god Ehecatl on a sacred site. The tree is considered the stoutest tree in the world with a smoothed out diameter of 30.8 feet. Images of animals are reputedly visible in the tree's gnarled trunk.
